Before-dinner drinks (and after-dinner drinks too for those with stamina) can be enjoyed at our gezellig bar. We highly recommend the experience!

Back in time

De Taveerne has a rich history on the island. Founded in 1979 as Bar - Eethuis De Taveerne, it operated as a full-service restaurant that specialized in quick bites (“Snelle Hap”). Customers then were mainly tourists and a few Texel residents, as well as so-called “day people.” This last group is what the tourists were called who traveled to the island by bus for a whirlwind tour and only had 30 minutes for a fast meal and bathroom break before returning to the mainland.
